WoW Forever Races and Racials for PvP

In WoW Forever every race has two active and two passive racials, and the new Skyborne race joins both factions. For PvP, Humans remove stuns with Will to Survive, Orcs clear Curses and Banes with Shatter Curse, and Will of the Forsaken no longer gives immunity.

Best racials for PvP

Blizzard tuned racials to give similar offensive power while keeping each race's signature utility (September 13), so we pick a race for the problem it solves. Your class and faction limit the choice; each class guide has its own picks.

ProblemRacials that help
StunsWill to Survive (Human) removes them. Hardiness (Orc) makes them shorter.
Fear, Charm and SleepWill of the Forsaken (Undead) removes them, but you can be feared again right away.
Roots and snaresEscape Artist (Gnome) breaks them and blocks new ones for 3 sec.
Bleeds and poisonsStoneform (Dwarf) clears and blocks them and cuts physical damage. Strong against Rogues and Warriors.
Curses and BanesShatter Curse (Orc) dispels them and cuts magic damage; it no longer grants immunity (October 15). Strong against Warlocks, whose Curse of Agony and Curse of Doom are now Banes (October 7).
Finding or using stealthPerception (Human) helps you spot Rogues and Druids. Shadowmeld (Night Elf) hides you while you stand still and can be used in combat.
BurstBlood Fury (Orc), Berserking (Troll), Elune's Light (Night Elf) and Eureka! (Gnome).
Protecting a healerWar Stomp (Tauren) is the only racial stun and hits up to 5 enemies around you.
SpeedPlainsrunning (Tauren) builds up to 30% speed while you keep moving. Skysight (Windshaper) adds 10% for 30 sec; Quickness (Night Elf) adds 2%.

Alliance races and racials

Effects in both faction tables follow Blizzard's race articles, recap and October 15 beta update. Cooldowns, cast times and figures Blizzard left out, such as Stoneform's 10%, are from Wowhead's Forever database. Each race's classes are under its name.

Skyborne racials: High Order and Windshaper

The Skyborne (announced September 22) start on Zephras Isle at levels 1–12 and have their own Druid forms. Both versions share Walk on Air, Wind Blessed and Elemental Insight; in PvP only Wind Blessed's 3% haste always applies. High Order adds Read Ley Line for regeneration; Windshaper adds Skysight for speed.

Gnome: how Eureka! works now

Eureka! (2 min) is an 8-second buff with no charges since October 15. During it, damaging or healing spells and abilities cost 10% less Mana, Rage or Energy and deal 10% more damage or healing; Power Word: Shield also benefits. Since October 1, effects over time, such as a Warlock's Corruption or a Priest's Renew, get nothing from it; channeled spells still do.

Undead: Will of the Forsaken, Cannibalize and Touch of the Grave

Will of the Forsaken removes Charm, Fear and Sleep but no longer makes you immune to them (September 13). On October 8 Blizzard fixed an issue where it sometimes could not be used while you were asleep or charmed. The October 15 notes exclude using it during Scatter Shot.

Cannibalize now restores Mana as well as Health (September 13) and needs a Humanoid or Undead corpse within 5 yards. Moving, acting or taking damage cancels it, so use it after a fight. Since October 1 you cannot use it while immune to Physical damage.

Since September 24, Touch of the Grave no longer breaks crowd control or triggers from spells and abilities with no damage component. Shadow Word: Pain triggers it when cast, not from its damage over time. Distract no longer triggers it, so an Undead Rogue's Distract cannot pull a Rogue or Druid out of stealth.

The October 15 update also adjusts Touch of the Grave's proc timing for more consistent results. The notes call later entries “Touch of the Dead”; those entries remove Shadow-damage scaling and the lower-rank penalty. We do not infer an average benefit from them.

Priest racial spells

Each Priest race has two racial spells. Blizzard's September 30 Priest preview changed several and gave Gnome Priests new ones; every Priest now learns Fear Ward and Devouring Plague at level 20. Levels and cooldowns Blizzard did not give are the first rank from Wowhead's Forever data.

RaceLevel 10 spellLevel 20 spell
DwarfDesperate Prayer (10 min, unchanged): instant heal on yourself.Chastise (2 min): damages a Humanoid and roots it for 2 sec.
GnomeConfounding Flash (2 min, 0.5 sec cast): confuses up to 5 nearby enemies for 3 sec; damage breaks it.Contingency Plan (5 min): a 30-sec ward on an ally; below 35% health they get an absorb shield and a heal over time that stack with Renew and Power Word: Shield.
HumanDivine Grace (5 min): instantly heals an ally below 50% health and removes Weakened Soul. You cannot cast it on yourself.Feedback (3 min, unchanged): for 15 sec, enemy spells that hit you burn the caster's Mana and deal Shadow damage to them.
Night ElfStarshards (30 sec, 6-sec channel): much more damage than before. Since September 24, Twilight Focus gives it pushback resistance.Elune's Grace (5 min): melee and ranged attacks are 50% less likely to hit you for 15 sec or until 3 attacks miss.
TrollHex of Weakness (unchanged): for 2 min the target has less melee Attack Power and gets 20% less healing.Shadowguard (unchanged): 3 charges for 10 min that deal Shadow damage to enemies who hit you.
UndeadTouch of Weakness (unchanged): your next melee attacker takes Shadow damage and loses melee Attack Power for 2 min.Dark Sacrifice (10 min): turn your own Health into Mana over 15 sec; more Spirit gives more Mana. Since September 24 it no longer breaks crowd control that breaks on damage.

Racials in Druid forms

Blizzard's September 30 Druid preview lets Druids use racials without leaving a form, naming Shadowmeld (Night Elf), War Stomp (Tauren) and Walk on Air (Skyborne). Other form rules are in the Druid guide.
